Your PC and TV have taken another step closer to tying the knot. News came yesterday that Yahoo and Intel have agreed on a deal that would create software that gives consumers the ability to watch TV and surf the web on the same console at the same time. Currently the technology exists to use your PC through your TV, however not at the same time.
Basically the technology will work something like this: you’ll be watching a television program and an icon will pop up. This icon allows you to click on it with your remote and access more related information through a web browser without interrupting the programming. So you could be watching a movie and see the bio of an actor in that movie for example.
When this service is available through Comcast next year, TVs will need a set-up box. Eventually the goal will be to build the technology directly into the TV.
