Twitter Gaining Momentum in Google SERPs

As Twitter becomes embedded into the subconscious of internet goers across the world, Google search results are now reflecting this trend. With some of the biggest brands utilizing Twitter to stay in touch with their consumers it only makes sense that their Twitter account is seen as more relevant in the eyes of Google. This is evident in branded keyword searches made recently for these companies.

Here’s a look at some of the biggest brands on Twitter and how their Twitter account ranks in Google compared to other engines for their brand (using the company’s name as a search query).

What does this mean? This means that not only is the media a buzzing about Twitter, but Google is also becoming more fond of the tool. Other engines are ranking company Twitter account profiles; however Google is giving them more weight. Does Google’s crush on Twitter signify a pending acquisition? Unlikely according to Google CEO Eric Schmidt. However one thing is certain; if Google is emphasizing Twitter in their search results, you can bet the other engines will follow.
