Citysearch and Yellowpages.com Have Joined Forces

Recently we have seen Citysearch and Superpages.com (Idearc Media) partner to increase traffic to both sites, while back in January 2009, Superpages.com coupled with YellowPages.com for what they called a ‘cross channel distribution’ agreement which extends ad distribution and business profile pages to both sites.  Today Citysearch announced an agreement to integrate their user reviews, editorial content and business profiles onto YellowPages.com.   Click here for an example of Citysearch & Yellowpages.com integration.

This seems to be an ongoing trend between various Internet Yellow Pages sites.  While these partnerships are meant to serve the best interest of the advertiser and consumer, it’s hard not to wonder if this will stimulate an overload of contradicting information within business profiles or multiple listings for the same location.  Will YellowPages.com provide the business profiles from Citysearch.com, Superpages.com, their own site or combination of all three?  Also, we can’t help but question if this partnership soon extend to Dexknows.com, YellowBook.com or other Local Search sites?
