  1. Citysearch and Yellowpages.com Have Joined Forces

    Recently we have seen Citysearch and Superpages.com (Idearc Media) partner to increase traffic to both sites, while back in January 2009, Superpages.com coupled with YellowPages.com for what they called a ‘cross channel distribution’ agreement which extends ad distribution and business profile pages to both sites.  Today Citysearch announced an agreement to integrate their user reviews, editorial content and business profiles onto YellowPages.com.   Click here for an example of Citysearch & Yellowpages.com integration.

  2. Yahoo Search Share Expected To Drop

    After failing to renew deals with two computer makers, the Yahoo search share is expected to drop three percentage points according to an industry insider. The loss of these deals means Yahoo will no longer be the default search engine on Hewlett-Packard Co. and Acer Inc. computers. This loss could result in a 15% decrease in Yahoo’s search traffic in the next 12-18 months. For a company trying to restructure itself so it can gain market share, this is not good news.

  3. Google to Change Ranking Algorithm

    Blackhat SEO techniques used by spammers have forced Google to make changes to their ranking algorithm. Over the last few months spammers used Google Trends to find buzzy keywords and then created new content targeting those keywords to gain rankings. It would only take these new pages a short amount of time to climb up the rankings, which conflicts with Google’s goal of displaying the most relevant searches.
