Bing It’s Here

Microsoft has rolled out their new search engine to the general public and it is called Bing. Microsoft intends to position Bing as a decision engine as opposed to a traditional search engine. It is Microsoft’s intention for Bing to help you answer questions as quickly as possible. The rollout has begun and promotion is underway.

You can find the new look and feel in three different ways. The first is to simply visit bing.com. The second is to visit live.com. Live.com currently redirects visitors to Bing. The final method is to do a search on MSN. A search on MSN will display results using Bing.

There is 1 Perspective

I laughed today when I Google searched bing and Microsoft was running a pay-per-click on Google to promote Bing. The irony made me chuckle. Microsoft is planning an $80 million campaign to shift how web users think about and use search. While the ad campaign will generate interest, it is not expected to topple Google as the top search engine. Matt Cutts (Google SEO keeper of the algorythm) has some interesting insights into bing’s performance. The jury will be out for a while with the final verdict on bing.
