Facebook Usernames for Personal Profiles

Facebook makes another BIG announcement rather quietly. Starting at 12:01 a.m. EDT on Saturday, June 13, users will be able to select usernames so their Facebook URL will be a name they select instead of the Facebook assigned number like “id=592952074.” You can read the full post from Facebook, or login to your account where you will be greeted by a message at the top of your home page.    This news comes on the tails of Facebook’s announcement that fan pages created before 5/31 and with more than 1,000 followers will soon be able to create custom usernames. These are both prime examples of Facebook making itself more user, search engine, and marketing friendly.
