Superpages Leverages Twitter to Power up Local Search Results

Maximizing advertising dollars is always a priority for companies. Now more than ever, companies are looking for ways to get more out of every advertising dollar, given the current economy and budget limitations. Program optimization, enhancement and cross-channel promotion are ways 15miles is working with clients to ensure their ROI and brand visibility are high, while adhering to their budgetary constraints.

Idearc’s Superpages is now simplifying these tasks by incorporating its online product with Twitter, melding Internet Yellow Pages and local search with social media marketing. Call it social search, connecting on-the-go consumers with their growing need for local results within a tool their already adopting – Twiitter. Integrating the multiple platforms of Superpages and Twittter into an integrated user experience.

Not only does this maximize clients’ advertising dollars when listing their businesses with Superages, but it also provides another opportunity for clients’ brands to be found when consumers search for them on the popular site Twitter.

The concept is simple enough: Twitter users follow “@sp411,” and they’ll automatically be followed back. When Twitter users are looking for a type of business within a specified location (for example, dry cleaners in Minneapolis), they simply send Superpages a direct message containing the query and location. Shortly after, consumers receive a response — shown on all accessible Twitter platforms such as e-mail, SMS and direct message — with information driving them to business profile pages on Superpages.com. Consumers can also re-Tweet the results, creating more exposure.

The concept is simple and straightforward, but it allows Superpages to capitalize on the nearly 23 million unique monthly visitors to Twitter, thereby potentially creating more exposure for companies that list with Superpages. While Superpages’ Twitter account is still relatively new, this type of cross-channel promotion should create client opportunities for local leads and sales.
