eMarketer Article Mentions TMPDM’s Local Search Study

TMP Directional Marketing was recently featured in an eMarketer article highlighting our annual local search study for 2009 (download the official white paper by clicking the link), which analyzes consumer search behavior across various media channels. At the forefront of the article, dated October 23, are statistics about consumer behaviors after conducting searches for local business information. For example, approximately 37 percent of online searchers for local business information actually visited a store in person in 2009. Of those searchers, local search engine users were most likely to go to the store after locating a relevant, nearby business online; however, most local searchers contacted the business via telephone after going online to find it. Most local search engine users looked for businesses in the “Child Care” and “Hotel” categories/headings. The article follows up with information about the growing trend of mobile search and a quote by Gregg Stewart.
