A few days ago, I was perusing a popular celebrity gossip blog (guilty pleasure) when I saw an ad for a T-shirt that read, “You like this.” The phrase on the shirt was accompanied by a thumbs-up logo. This was, of course, a play on the popular comment-response feature on social media site Facebook. As cheesy as the T-shirt may have been, it reminded me how integral social networking has become for our everyday lives.
Clever T-shirts aside, as more consumers engage in social networking, businesses follow suit. As you may have read in today’s earlier blog post, Give Thanks for Social Networking, the number of Inc. 500 businesses engaging in social networking as a marketing tool has nearly tripled since 2007.
