Idearc is now SuperMedia

Idearc recently announced its new name, SuperMedia, to begin the new year. After a well-publicized bankruptcy filing, SuperMedia is looking to start 2010 off on the right foot. CEO Scott Klein stated, “Our new name symbolizes the rebirth of our company, and, along with it, the ability to continue to deliver innovative ways that will change the way in which we help match buyers with sellers.” It also offers more consistency with its most popular brands: SuperYellowpages, Superpages.com, and SuperpagesDirect.

The name SuperMedia isn’t the only new thing about the company. It also brought in a completely new board of directors. With new leadership, SuperMedia hopes to establish itself as a leading channel that focuses on bringing consumers and businesses together.

SuperMedia is not in the clear yet, although they have taken major strides toward rebuilding and improving the brand formerly known as Idearc. Klein recently presided over the NASDAQ Opening Bell to celebrate the company’s initial offering, which was quite symbolic of the company’s new beginning, a clean slate.
