Yellow Pages Group Purchases 411.ca

Yellow Pages Group (YPG) and Local Search Corp. announced last Tuesday that YPG has purchased the 411.ca brand and domain names and acquired an ownership interest in 411 Local Search Corp.

YPG is Canada’s leading local commercial search provider and largest directory publisher.  Most of their revenue comes from the sale of Yellow Pages directory advertising to mostly small and medium sized businesses. 411.ca offers online directory services, generating about 13 million queries for local Canadian businesses each month. The acquisition seems to be a step in the right direction for both companies in order to keep up with the shift towards online marketing.

Stephen K. Curry, President and Chief Executive Officer at 411 Local Search Corp. said, “Canadian businesses want results from their advertising programs that have a measurable impact on their bottom line. This deal will allow us to develop new programs and tools that will help 411.ca advertisers attract even more clientele.” YPG has also said that the addition of the 411.ca site will add approximately 1 million unique monthly visitors to their online network. Together, the two companies plan to expand their reach through this new partnership to continue their leadership in the Canadian local search market.
