    SMX — East 2009 in New York was packed with three insightful days of marketing sessions. The overall session content was strong, with local, mobile, social media and conversion attribution emerging as the expo’s hot topics. And while these topics were each granted their own sessions at the conference, we marketers must not lose sight of the growing need for integration of strategy that begins with testing new and emerging opportunities. No doubt, this is an exciting time in the online industry, with words like “tweet” becoming common vocabulary verbs and visitor volumes occurring in new vehicle types.   2. Bring on YouTube

    Quick post, but I just checked my SMX agenda and see the session titled “Pumping Up YouTube” is coming up next. I can’t wait. YouTube is clearly one of the most underutilized properties on the Internet. SEOs are so focused on Google, Yahoo, and Bing that they miss the fact that the volume of searches conducted on YouTube actually makes it the second most popular search engine. YouTube follows only Google in terms of search volume per month.

    I’m looking forward to a good session filled with insightful takeaways and lively discussion. Let’s hope it delivers.
