  1. GOOGLE ANALYTICS GETS A FACELIFT

    Jon Legler

Spring is in the air, and Google is doing a little bit of cleaning up. Recently they announced an updated release of Google Analytics that is currently in Beta. This release includes a drastic change for the look and feel of the interface, as well as some hierarchical changes that allow for a deeper level of customization.

The main navigation bar has been updated, and now more closely mirrors what we have been seeing lately from Google in general. Other than things being named slightly differently, there is nothing too surprising here. To get to the big changes you have to dig a little bit deeper. Read the full article…

  2. Negative Keywords: Be Seen In All and Only the Right Places

    Jon Legler

In running a pay-per-click campaign the most commonly stated goal is to show your ad when a consumer is looking for your goods or services. 5. Online Marketing Virtual Summit: Making the most of search & social

    Valerie Schlosser

It’s the first breakout presentation of the day and the presenter is Rand Fishkin.  One of the first and most valuable tools I was exposed to when I began my career was SEOmoz, so I’m always excited to hear what he has to say.

As internet usage has evolved, it has come time for the engines to recognize the need to mirror that evolution.  And as such, Fishkin makes the point that the engines see the need for social data to be integrated in order to improve their algorithms.  Real time social streaming brings cultural relevance to search results (ex: health care reform – searches will generate not only informational results but general buzz).
