    The smartphone market is increasing and will continue to do so at a feverish pace.  Most estimates say by at least 2013 over half of the US mobile handset population will be smartphone classified.  In fact, one projected estimate has this happening as soon as 2011.  In accordance with those numbers, the IDC has recently released their forecast for mobile device operating system market shares for 2014, and their numbers are a bit surprising.

  2. The AT&T and Verizon Rat Race

    In the ever-changing land of mobile, there are new apps, features and devices released daily, and this seems to have put Verizon and AT&T in a bit of a “rat race”.  Although the iPhone is still the talk of the town, Verizon’s Droid and Apps have given AT&T a short jog for their money.  Then, January brought us the first-to-market portable tablet by Apple, coined the iPad, and basically the offspring of an iPhone and MacBook marriage.

  3. This Morning, I Texted “HAITI” to 90999

    As I sat at my desk this morning enjoying my coffee, I received an e-mail from a co-worker asking that I text “HAITI” to 90999. As she so eloquently put it, “If I can spend $5 on my morning Starbucks, I can certainly afford to donate $10 to Haiti relief.” Yesterday, Jane Wamsley blogged about the devastation in Haiti and how this has become a popular topic on social sites and search engines. The Yele Haiti Foundation had already put into effect a text donation of $5 by texting “Yele” to 501501.

  4. Majority of Cell Phones Will Be Smartphones by 2011

    With the recent excitement over emerging mobile media, including the release of Verizon’s Droid phone based on Google’s Android mobile operating system, it seems like everyone will soon own a smartphone.  According to the Nielsen Company, a research firm, that might actually come true.     Beginning November 6, consumers can purchase the new Droid smartphone ($200) from Verizon Wireless. Verizon officials hope that this new release will directly compete with the Apple iPhone, giving consumers yet another option for mobile search. Today, more consumers are searching via mobile browsers, and Web-based mobile devices are flying off store shelves.
