  2. The Bing/Yahoo! Search Alliance Update

    In June reports began to flow regarding the formalization of the plan for Bing to begin serving search results for Yahoo. When that news broke agencies and advertisers alike began to look ahead to the time when their Yahoo! paid search performance would begin to decline and Bing’s to picks up.   3. Yahoo! Search Assist in Near Real-Time

    Yahoo! has recently enhanced their search assist product to “provide near real-time suggestions as you type your query” according to the Yahoo! Search Blog.  The enhancement should help to provide “fresher” suggestions for your search powered by their new suggestion algorithm recently launched.

They have recently rolled out a feature that allows users to search for a specific menu item instead of restaurant–especially helpful during times when you can’t figure out where you should go to get something to eat (a situation I am very familiar with).

  5. Yahoo Search Update

    On April 29th, Yahoo announced a new search index and algorithm update.  This update will affect crawling and ranking algorithm patterns within the next couple of days.  This update may cause some ranking changes and page shuffling while in progress. The update is expected to complete within the next few days.  The last major Yahoo update occurred on March 11th.

  6. Microhoo and SEM: What Does it Mean?

    Microsoft and Yahoo gained approval from the US Department of Justice and the European Commission last week to move forward with integrating their two search engines into one. They have set a goal for completion late 2010 or early 2011. The two companies believe that this alliance will enable them to more effectively take on search giant Google. According to Hitwise, in January Google held 63.91% of search volume; Yahoo and Bing held 10.80% and 9.23% respectively. So they will have their work cut out for them.
